Subsidies are based on projected income. If your income changes during the year, update your application so your credit stays accurate and you avoid surprises at tax time.
Compare metal levels
Bronze plans usually have lower premiums and higher deductibles, while Gold and Platinum plans cost more monthly but less when you receive care. Silver plans may qualify for extra cost-sharing reductions depending on income.
Mind the deadlines
Enroll during Open Enrollment, or within a Special Enrollment Period after a qualifying life event such as a move, marriage, birth or loss of other coverage.
